Gina K Designs~Tropical Blooms

Hey everyone!  Today I'm trying to play catch up and share some recent cards I've made.  We are still in the middle of our big move across the country...I'm currently at my Mom's in Missouri waiting to close on our new home in North Carolina.  I brought plenty of crafty supplies with me, but am feeling a bit back in the dark ages without WiFi.  Lol!  The first card I wanted to share I used the beautiful stamp and die set from Gina K Designs Tropical Blooms.  To make my card I stamped the floral images with VersaMark ink, masking each image and stamping again.  Then I used gold embossing powder and heat set all of the images.  I was stamping on Arches watercolor paper, and using the Embossing Buddy...but still found one area that didn't stamp perfect.  I found the rough paper a bit harder to get a perfect image every time.  So, next time I will make sure to double stamp my images.  After heat setting, I watercolored the flowers with St. Petersburg White Night 36 pan watercolor set.  I'm having so much fun with these watercolors!  I think they are a wonderful artist grade set for beginners that doesn't break the bank, very worth the wait ordering from the UK.  Especially if you aren't quite ready to buy ALL the watercolors, as I have.  ;)  I added a few extra colors to the original 36 color palette, so I'm sharing my personal palette colors below.   These are my favorite colors, for now anyway.  I find watercoloring so quick, easy and so relaxing.  Which is totally what I need right now with all of our moving adventures going on!

Concord & 9th Wonderful Florals with Arteza Brush Pens

Hello everyone!  Today I'm sharing a card a recently made, yes...you read that right!  I finally had time during our move to get crafty!   We said goodbye to California and Nevada...and are currently staying with my mom in Missouri, while we wait to close on our new home in North Carolina.  My mom doesn't have Wifi, so I'm doing my best to get videos and blog posts uploaded when I can!  Thank God for crafty therapy!!!  Lol

Arteza was kind enough to send me their 24 Real Brush Pens for review!  I thought they would look amazing coloring the gorgeous Wonderful Florals stamp set from Concord & 9th.  To make this card I stamped out the image with VersaMark ink onto Bristol Smooth Card stock.  I then heat embossed the image with gold embossing powder.  I began playing with the new brush pens.  They have some nice colors, but I mixed the phthalo green shade with a medium blue shade to make an aqua color.  I colored in all of the floral images and blended them with an aqua pen.  This was quick and easy, perfect to get my mind off all of our moving chaos!

After coloring I used the coordinating dies to cut out the sentiment.  Then I embossed the sentiment again in black card stock to put underneath, using some craft foam to pop it up.  I attached the floral image to some craft card stock to contrast from my card base.  This was a fun and easy card to make, and just what I needed to get my crafty mojo back!  I have a card tutorial with a full review of the Arteza Real Brush Pens on my YouTube channel!

Neat & Tangled~You Made the Nice List

Hey everyone!  Today I'm sharing a card I made combining a few stamps sets from Neat & Tangled.  I love foxes, and couldn't wait to play with the fox from Schoolhouse.  I also used images from Holiday Baking and Elf's and their Shelf.  I masked many of the images of with masking paper, and then colored them all with Copic Markers.  Then I used Nuvo embellishment mousse along with the Tim Holtz Bricked stencil to create my background.  I'm playing along with the Little Tangles Gift Giving Challenge, this would be a great card to pop a gift card into.  I hope you join along!  I also hope you all make the nice list this year!

My First Watercolored Piece~Fox

Hey everyone!  Today I'm sharing something different, my first two sketches and my first watercolor piece.  I've been loving playing with watercolors with my cardmaking, and now I decided to try them on their own.  I don't know if it is really art, I still have no idea what I'm doing...or if I did anything right.  I'm having so much fun, I really don't care.  Lol  I've become sightly obsessed with watercolors since this summer, and selling many items in my craft room to allow me to buy all the watercolors.  Here is the fox painting I shared in my recent art haul video.  I haven't sketched since I was in high school, but I pulled up a few pics off Google to sketch the mountain lion and the fox.  Then I used my new BrightPad (that I love!) to watercolor the fox, with no worry of pencil lines.  Here is what I've been playing with in my studio:

My Favorite Things Happy Pawlidays

Hey everyone!  I'm still on my marathon card share catch up, lol!  Today I'm sharing a card I made awhile back using the super cute My Favorite Things Happy Pawlidays stamp set.  I used a lot of masking to make this one layer card, and colored all of the images with Copic markers.  This made it more time consuming...but I love the look of it!  I used Handwritten Holidays for the sentiment, and used some distress inks to blend out the background as well as add the floor.  I slathered on some wink of stella everywhere, and added some Nuvo Crystal drops to make the lights look realistic.  I thought it turned out super cute!  I did make a card tutorial, for my YouTube channel if you would like to check it out!

Workin’ Hard or Hardly Workin’ Blog Hop

Hey everyone!  This month the Blog Hop with Hearts are sharing projects with a Workin' Hard or Hardly Workin' theme!  If you came from Kelly's fabulous blog, you are in the right place.  For some my card may seem to fall in the Workin' Hard catagory.  For me, watercoloring is so relaxing...it almost feels like therapy.  So, I don't consider it work at all!

To make my card first I stamped out Altenew Modern Deer with Memento Desert Sand ink.  Then I watercolored the deer using the No-Line coloring technique with my Daniel Smith watercolors to paint my card.  Then I stamped the Altenew Pine Tree the same way, just to give me a suggestion of where to watercolor.    My trick to getting perfect splatters is to use scrap pieces of acetate to cover up where ever I don't want splatters, then I can see right where my splatters go.  I used my all time favorite Finetec Pearlcolors Gold to add the splatters.  Then, I stamped out the sentiment from the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set with Versafine Pigment ink.  Lastly, I added a suggestion of a hillside and some fall leaves just by loosely adding bits of fall colors.

Now hop on over to see the beautiful creation Becca has for you!  Thanks so much for joining me!

Boo To You Blog Hop~Treat Boxes

Hey everyone!  This month the Blog Hops with Heart are sharing some Halloween inspiration projects!  If you came from Jayma's awesome blog, you are in the right place.  I'm really not a fan of anything creepy or scary...Haha, I'm a mean mom who doesn't allow my kids to watch horror movies until they move out.  But, I'm all in for letting my kids dress up and enjoy the fun side of Halloween...and that's how I approach Halloween in my craft room.  It's all about letting the kids have fun.  So with that in mind I made a fun party favor treat box.

I used several stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn, as well as some paper from CTMH to create my gift box.  I punched out the eyes and added glow in the dark tape behind them, so when you take it in a dark place...the eyes glow!  I put some candy corn and glow sticks inside the box, so it also glows through the spider webs.  This is a super fun box that I hope all the kiddos I give it to love it!

Thanks so much for joining me!  Next up on the hop is the fabulous Wendy, so be sure and check out the awesome project she made!

Lawn Fawn Pumpkin Spice Gift Box

Hey everyone!  Today I'm sharing a gift box and card I made using several Lawn Fawn stamps and dies.  I just loved the new Pumpkin Spice stamp set.  I decided to make a card to hold a Starbucks gift card and put in the gift box.  One of my favorite things about Lawn Fawn stamps is how you can mix and match several sets together, like they were made for each other.  I colored all the images with Copic markers.  I also made some tags using a few different dies from Lawn Fawn also.  I'm playing along in the Lawn Fawnactics Challenge, and I hope you join in the fun.  I should have a tutorial up on my YouTube channel up soon, so stay tuned!

Lawn Fawn Here We Go A-Waddling

Hey everyone!  Today I'm sharing a fun shaker scene card I made using the Here We Go A-Waddling stamp set from Lawn Fawn.  I love stamp sets like this that are so versatile, you can use it all year long.  I'm joining in the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge to create a scene.

To make this card, first I stamped out the caroling penguins and a few of the images from the Winter Village stamp set.  Then I colored all of the images with Copic markers.  I added Wink of Stella, Glossy Accents and Nuvo Glitter Paste to add a bit of extra detail to these fun images.  I cut the frame out with Outside In Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Stackables, using a sheet of the Perfectly Plaid Chill paper pad.  I attached acetate and assembled the shaker card using some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.  I should have the tutorial of this card on my YouTube channel soon, if you would like to watch.

Wplus9 Modern Anemones

Hey everyone!  Today I'm sharing a card I made over a month ago...just now getting around to posting it on my blog and YouTube channel.  It's been a busy summer, and time is flying by as usual!    I adore this stamp set from Wplus9, and wanted to try out my new Daniel Smith watercolors.  I found the best essential watercolor set, that came with the 238 dot chart.  I think it was the perfect starter set for me, and now I can try others colors out on the dot sheet before I invest in each tube.

I began by stamping Modern Anemones with Versamark ink and heat embossing all the images in gold.  This is the easiest way to watercolor, as it helps you stay in the lines.  I watercolored all of the flowers with Permanent Violet, and used Hansa Yellow Deep for the inside.  For the leaves I had a little more fun and used a mixture of Hansa Yellow Light, Veridian Green, and Amazonite Genuine.  I added some splatters of course, using the Finetec Pearlescent watercolors and in the end added some of the Deep Black to the very inside of the flowers as well.  I popped some of the flowers up on foam tape, and tucked the rest underneath each other.  I used the Kind Soul stamp set for the sentiment.  I have a tutorial on my YouTube channel if you would like to check it out.

Lawn Fawn Costume Party

Hey everyone!  Today I'm sharing a fun card I made using the Lawn Fawn Costume Party stamp set and dies.  I stamped a few images from Costume Party, and colored them with Copics.  I also used a few houses from the Winter Village stamp set.  I blended my background sky using Distress Oxide Inks and framed it using the Leafy Tree Backdrop die...again.  I used some 3M Micropore surgical tape, that I bought years ago to make the tree look like it got TP'd, lol.  This was a fun card to make, and my kids thought it was so funny.  I'm playing in the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge, as this is a perfect card for kids!  I posted a tutorial of this card on my YouTube Channel.

Lawn Fawn Jump for Joy Spinner Card

Hey everyone!  Today I'm sharing a spinner card I made featuring the Lawn Fawn Jump for Joy stamp and dies.  I colored all of the images with Copic markers.  Then used the Slide on Over dies to make the spinner mechanism super easy.  I used the die to cut out the circles out of craft foam.  this made everything line up perfectly, to allow the penny to slide along the track.  This was such a fun card, I can't wait to make more spinner cards!  This would be a perfect card for kids, so I am linking this to the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge.  I have also posted a tutorial of the card on my YouTube channel.

My Favorite Things~Jungle Gym

Hey everyone!  Today I'm sharing a window card I made featuring the Jungle Gym stamp set from My Favorite Things!  To make this card, I first stamped all of the images with VersaFine pigment ink onto Canson Watercolor paper.  This is my ink of choice when I use watercolors.  I used Prima Confections Watercolors Classics set, as well as the Tropicals to paint all of my images quickly.  Then I cut a window out of my card base and began using the coordinating dies to cut out all of my images.   I then used Distress Oxide inks to blend my background for my card and die cut the window in the card panel.  I assembled the card, and I think those images are so cute!  I'm also sharing the quick cards I made with the rest of the images I watercolored.  Such fun cards!  I also have a video tutorial if you would like to watch it:
