Favorite Supplies of 2023!

Hello, crafty friends!

Just sharing some Destash info from my studio!  I find myself spending my free time drawing and painting, and using my art supplies these days.  So, I have some beautiful craft supplies that need a new home, where they will be loved and used!  Most of these supplies are very gently used, if at all.  You can find my eBay shop here, if you would like to check it out.

Etchr Sketchbook Review

Hello, everyone!  Etchr recently reached out to me to try some of their products.  I have a full review and demonstration on my YouTube channel.  Let me just say, I never loved a sketchbook until I tried a sketchbook from Etchr.  The paper is 100% cotton, so I can finally use any product on every page...exactly what I want from a sketchbook.  I highly recommend you try one!

Here is a photo of the lemon I painted.

Arrtx Colored Pencil Review

Hello, everyone!  Today I am sharing a review of new colored pencils kindly sent to me by Arrtx on my YouTube channel.  Here are some photos of my first time playing with them.

They come in an adorable cardboard box.  Such a clever design with dense foam to hold the pencils, genius.  They have beautiful, vibrant colors.  I felt they blend really well, and to me they layer better than Prismacolors.  They are not as buttery smooth as Prismacolors, but I also did not have any breakage and wax bloom.  I really enjoyed using them, and they are my favorite budget set I have been set for review, to date.  It is so nice to review a set and not have to say, they a nice if you don't already have a dozen budget sets.  ( Which is the nicest way I can think of to say pencils are ok, but nothing special ;D )   I really hope Arrtx expands the color line as well as brings us watercolor pencils.  ;)

Sketchmarker Aqua Markers

Hello everyone!  Today I have a review for the Aqua Markers from Sketchmarker.  These were kindly sent to me from Sketchmarker for review.  They were very fun to use, felt very high quality.  For my first painting with them I used Canson Watercolor paper.  I'm really not a fan of this paper, but these markers work best on cellulose paper.  I recommend trying different paper with these.  If you use the markers directly on cotton paper, it will leave harsh lines but if you use a palette first you can achieve beautiful results.

I have a video on my YouTube channel if you would like to see the full review, as well as a demo of painting a giraffe with them.

Thank you to Sketchmarker for sending me these beautiful Aqua Markers.  I will be sharing more artwork with them in a future video!

Paul Rubens Emerald & Gucai Watercolor Sets

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all doing well!

It's been quite awhile since I posted on my blog.  I have some artwork to share today!  Paul Rubens kindly sent me a some new products and I've used them to paint a humpback Whale.  I have a video on my YouTube channel if you would like to see my painting in process, as well swatching from the new watercolor set.

I used a Mop brush and the Paul Rubens Emerald Watercolor set to paint a Humpback Whale on the 100% Cotton Watercolor Block.  After painting the whale I added splatters with Magenta, Indigo and gold from the  Paul Rubens GUCAI watercolor set .  It was so much fun, and yes...I love the new pretty palette!  I'm always a bit of a sucker for pretty packaging.  I really did enjoy all of the products!  Thank you to Paul Rubens for sending them to me!  ;D

Take care!

Fall card Share!

Hello everyone!  Today I'm sharing three cards, as I'm still trying to play catch up from moving and enjoy some fall crafty goodness...  I've shared all the product info in my YouTube video, if you would like to check that out.

The good news is we have four of five beds put together, LOL!  My daughter still wants to wait to put her bed together, as the previous owner had a train room...she wants to remove the mountain border and all of the shelves and paint first before she puts her bed together.  So, she has opted for sleeping with her box springs and mattress on the floor for now.  Hopefully, I will have time to do all of that sometime before Christmas?!?  Any tips on removing wallpaper borders will be most appreciated!  ;)  Anyhoo....Back to the card share!  I'm still yet to have my craft/art studio just right, but I can find most of my favorite must haves anyway.

I made three fun cards, the first was a plain and simple card from MFT using the Autumn blessings stamp set.  I love this set so much, and can see it being a fall favorite for years to come!  Next a made my Design Team project for the Not2Shabby Shop, using Magical Winter stamp set for the adorable fox.  Next I was dying to play with the super cute Den Sweet Den stamp set from Lawn Fawn.  When I saw the release, I couldn't wait to make the mama bear hold her babies!  The die set is a MUST have, it allows you to cut out the outline of the bears arms, and slip something to hold inside!!  Books, coffee, babies, whatever you choose!  Yet another stamp set from the Lawn Fawn Release that will be hard to not use over and over again.  I'm playing along with the LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 85 – AWESOME AUTUMN...yes two in one month.  Usually I can't get time to post one before the month has passed me by, lol.

Thanks for joining me!

I've share all the details of how I made this cards in my latest YouTube video:

Rembrandt 48 Half Pan Watercolor set

Hello everyone!  Today I'm sharing new watercolors from Jackson's Art Supplies.  The Rembrandt 48 Half Pan Watercolor set!  I also have some pics of the Rembrandt color chart, that show the pigment info for each color.  I have indicated which colors came in my 48 pan set.  If you have tried these watercolors, I'd love to hear what you think of them.  I can't wait to swatch them all out, and play with them to see how transparent they are...and how well they mix.  I've read that the Viridian is hard to re-wet because it is the real deal, real Viridian.  Apparently most manufacturers boost their Viridian with PG7, and true Viridian has much better lightfastness.

I purchased this set after trying the much more affordable Van Gogh watercolor set, that is Royal Talens student grade line.  I was impressed with how pigmented they were, for student grade paints.

Lawn Fawn Mice in a Spooky Forest

Hello everyone!  Today I'm sharing my DT project for the Not 2 Shabby Shop!  This card was inspired my the Lawn Fawnactics Challenge, Awesome Autumn.  I made this card when the challenge first started, but I couldn't get a chance to edit my video until now.  So, I am barely squeaking in to enter it before the challenge closes.  Lol  Whew...this has been a super busy month with all kinds of ups and downs.  I knew before the challenge I wanted to cut the ice skates off the mice in the Mice on Ice stamp set, and use them all year long.  But, when I began creating this card I thought it would be fun to make the mice holding hands in the forest...and then discover they are in a spooky forest once night time comes!  It was a ton of fun to make this card.  I have a video on my YouTube channel, if you would like to check it out.

Hello everyone!  Today I'm sharing my last guest design project with Newton's Nook.  I've had so much fun, thank you so much for having me!!  To create my card, first I cut out a the card panel frame using the Frames & Flags Die Set.  Next I cut some Bristol Smooth Cardstock to fit inside the frame.  I blended a sunset background and splattered it with black and gold gouache.  Next I die cut some grass and layered it on the card panel.  I stamped images from Autumn Mice, and Garden Mice using Antique Linen Distress Ink.  I used hot pressed watercolor paper.  I wanted a soft look so I chose to color the images using the no line coloring technique.  I colored them with Caran D'ache Supracolor Watercolor Pencils.  I fussy cut the images out and began building my scene.  I wanted two of the mice to appear to be kissing each other in the sunset.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Fall Fringe with black ink.  I adhered the card panel to the card base using foam squares to complete the card.  I had so much fun coloring all of these adorable images!

Thanks so much for joining me today!  Happy crafting!
