Sparkling New Year Hop

Hey everyone!  I hope you had a fun New Year!  This month the Blog Hops with Heart team are sharing all things that sparkle!  If you came from Becca's Blog, you are in the right place!

I LOVE to add a little sparkle on my projects.  My favorite go to's are usually glitter paper, perfect pearls, sequins, Wink of Stella, and lately my favorite is the CTMH Shimmer Brush.

This time a year, I really struggle creating much of anything.  We have snow here in Reno, and it's cold and gray.  The gray days usually seem to take away my crafty mojo, so I need extra color and sparkle!  (I really need spring the 1st of January...but the color and sparkle help, lol!)  I decided to make a new dashboard for my planner, combining some old and new CTMH products.  Last summer, I discovered the CTMH Shimmer Brush is the most amazing combination with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers (which I call Ziggies).  They blend beautifully, and add a clear sparkle without changing the colors.  I use it like a sparkling waterbrush, with ink pads and my Ziggies.

I used an old (and much loved) stamp of the month set, Paper Garden.  I colored the stamps with my Ziggies and the Shimmer Brush.  Stamped them out, and then blended the colors a bit more with the shimmer brush.  After it was dry, I stamped the sentiment with Black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder.  The new stamp set is Journaling Prompts.  I also added the Hello sentiment from the Some Kinda Wonderful Compliments for even more sparkle.  So, to be honest...I'm not too thrilled with my creation.  I think I will keep playing with it, but as of now this is what I came up with.  I find if I start playing, my mojo usually comes back eventually!  ;)

Now you are off to see what the super talented Wendy has made!  I hope you enjoy the hop, and get tons of sparkly inspiration!

Thanks for joining me!

  1. So, I wish you were in love with this as much as I am! The sparkly accents are perfect against the flower petals and greenery! I don't have nearly the patience required for this one! Lovely! :)

    1. Thank you, Wendy! Thanks for your sweet comments. Ziggies are my favorite was to color now, with the CTMH shimmer brush! If you get them, do yourself a favor and pick up some Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper~then you will see the magic! It's about $6 on Amazon.

  3. Sorry your mojo is lacking! That is very frustrating when that happens, but I never would have known if you wouldn't have mentioned it because this project is just GORGEOUS! Ziggies...you must be a fan of Laura Bassen? Her YouTube videos are the best!

  4. So shimmery and sparkly...a perfect addition to the hop. My only complaint is that, like Wendy, you might have just pushed me off the Ziggie fence...'cause I so NEED more pens. LOL!! Beautiful project!
