Seeing Stars~Blog Hops with Heart

Hey everyone!  If you came from Becca's fabulous blog, you are in the right place ( for our short, but sweet) Blog Hops with Heart this month!

We are featuring stars this month!  Funny story:  I had planned for months to make a fun shaker cards with my star dies.  Since we are still traveling, that meant a trip to our storage unit to hunt for my Cuttlebug or Big Shot.  I was so happy when I happened to find the box with my Cuttlebug!  Oh, I could have kissed it!  I had missed being able to use any of my dies...for months now!  I got all set up in the hotel room and found the perfect star dies with cute stitching and everything...only to realize I forgot to grab any of the cutting plates, and most importantly the spacing plate!  FYI, Michael's and Joann's don't carry those in stock.  Maybe, all this traveling is really starting to get the best of me?  Maybe I need to learn not to procrastinate?  Who knows...

So, with one day to spare, on to find a plan B!  I decided to try making a card with a galaxy background.  Haha, like most of my cards~I really didn't know what I was doing,  I just had to play around with it.  I colored watercolor paper with bright colored distress inks, very randomly.  Then I blended black soot distress ink to cover almost all of the background.  I splattered water around with a paint brush, and dried it gently with a microfiber cloth.  This brought back some of the colors, but also left lighter areas I was going for also.  Then I used the white and pearl colors from my Gansai Tambi watercolor set to flick stars everywhere.  Next time, I think I would add some Perfect Pearls to make it have more sparkle.  I used the super cute stamp set from CTMH Animal Greetings.  This set retires very soon, so if you want it you better grab it fast!  I was a bit too lazy to mirror image my stamp this time, so I just cut off the tail...and glued it on the other side to make the girl raccoon.  I colored the raccoons with Copics, and the cute sentiment stamp is Shooting Star from Mama Elephant.

Of course, once I started playing with that super cute stamp set...I couldn't put it down!   I made several more cards using those cute little critters.  I had to share one more card with you guys.  I paired the Animal Greetings with the Amusement Park stamp set.  I was actually tempted to use a new CTMH balloon stamp with it...but I'm not allowed to just yet.  So, since I'm a rule follower...I pouted a tiny bit and used Story Book from Avery Elle instead.  The sentiment stamp is from Avery Elle also, Be a Unicorn. The stars were from the Shooting Star stamp set, again from Mama Elephant.  I colored all the images with Copic markers, and cut them with my ScanNcut.  I stamped the roller coaster in Sapphire ink, and embossed it with clear embossing powder, as well as the Ferris Wheel in the background.  I'm well aware there is no Ferris Wheel at Disneyland...but I couldn't resist using it in the background anyway. For the castle, I used Fairytale Birthday stamped in silver pigment ink on a white sheet of B&T paper from the Magical Paper Packet .  I have been so loving all of these stamps and paper packets that remind me of Disney, and I'm warning you now...you only have about a month to get them before they are gone for good, sadly.

    1. Thanks, Kelly! Unless you enjoy fussy-cutting...I highly recommend the ScanNcut! I waited way to long to order this set too. I wasn't a fan of the cheeks in most of the animals. So, I cut them out of my stamps and now I love them! Hehe, I'm picky like that. Your layouts are so awesome, I am almost always at a loss for words! Thanks, and right back at you! <3
